Reflection questions

1. From this past year the thing I will remember for a long time is the last canoe trip, because of what happened with Kaelen and Gavin and then when Josh, Jack and me had to get Mrs. Maxwells canoe un pined from the 2 rocks. 2. From the past year would have also been the last canoe because of how long it ended up taking us to do the rivers. And it was also because of what happened on the canoe trip. 3. The most interesting we did this year was when barret Miller came because of all the things he taught us about interpreting and teach younger kids 4. I wouldn’t have anymore because for all the stuff we have to do and al the activities we already have, it would be hard to get everything done in the school year. 5. Interpreting was the skill that I developed the most this year and will become useful because of all the jobs I may go into later down the road. 6. We should do more classes at the wetland. 7. I would pay some money to go on different trips for camping of other out
What I did well? Helping out when there were canoes that were stuck and me and josh didn’t flip our canoe. What I need to improve? I need to improve my left turns What I enjoyed? Having everyone together and joking around most of the trip. What I found difficult and why? The trip felt really long after Kaelen and Gavin flip there canoe so it made it hard to keep going Would I recommend canoeing trips? Yes I would recommend this trip because it is a good experience and it helps you to really learn the skills of canoeing. But if we did this trip again I would suggest starting a little bit early.

1 what really worked in your station? At our station having someone draw out the greenhouse effect help them pay attention for a little longer. 2 what didn’t work? Have the thermometer in a jar because there wasn’t always sun, so the thermometers were often the same. 3 what was a difficulty you had not expected? The teachers leaving the stations early 4 where there out standing students at your station On the second day there were a lot more kids that where paying attention 5 what could we do better Having the lunch so it wasn’t so chaotic 6 my comments. From everything I head from the kids it sounded like they really enjoyed being at the wetland.

Barret Miller

On may 18th Mr. Miller can to our school to help us with interpretation, We are doing this week to the grade 4 students at the Rivers Wetland Centre of excellence.  At the start he asked us about what we were concerned about and what we were excited about, and many people said they were concerned about the students paying attention, and most people were excited about being able to work witth the younger students. He helped us to not worry about the students not paying attention, and taught us about some tricks to help the kids with understanding the ideas we are trying to get them to remember the ideas. After, he had us read through our station a few times so we could get them to know our stations. Then he had us present if to as if he was the grade 4, and during it and after it he gave us some suggestions to make it easier to present it, and to get rid of some of the questions and add some things to some of our games and some examples. One of the examples that he told us to use was

River canoeing

When we went canoeing we learned how to navigate through rapids properly, and we also learned how to farie on the river and turn in to an eddi. While we were canoeing we saw a sweeper and strainer. Another thing we saw was how to get off a rock if you get caught on top of one, and Seth help me to see how not to get out of a canoe.

Interpretation questions

I am doing the greenhouse effect on wetlands, so what would be a good way of showing them the greenhouse effect has on wetland? For the greenhouse affect what would be something that I could relate it to that would make it easier for them to understand it? For my game there are 3 kids that have pinnes on and one will be Carbon Dioxide, Methane, or CFC then the other students that don’t have pinnes on are the sunlight. So what would be a good way to explain what this games have do with the greenhouse effect?
